Chace Crawford in Words
This project was done as the First Semester project for this year. It consisted on choosing someone you like or who’s meaningful to you and drawing it using words and letters. I chose to draw Chace Crawford, an actor of my favorite TV show, Gossip Girl. I have loved how he acts since I first began watching gossip girl and he has become one of my favorite actors. To do this project, first I had to find a picture in the internet of Chace’s face which was black and white. Then I had to trace the picture in a bond paper. To do this, I had to rely on a window, so that the light passed through the papers and it would be easier to trace. Once I had done this, I looked in the internet for Gossip Girl quotes and sayings by the characters. I then started to write the quotes on top of the lines I had traced, making it look as if the lines were just made of words. I did this with a black pen. I had to do this very carefully with very small letters so that the image would look fine when seen from far away. Once finished I erased all the pencil lines and it seemed as if the drawing was made just with pen and letters.
I think this project is really different from all the ones we have done before. During this project, I learned that patience is the key for good work, because it took a lot of time and I thought I was never going to finish. The easiest part of the project was finding the picture and tracing it, because with the help of the window, it took almost no time and the lines were very clear. However, the hardest part was filling in the pencil lines with words and letters. The letters had to be very small, so I took a lot of time to fill each line. The hardest part to fill in was the hair, because I tried to write in the direction Chace’s hair really looks like, and his hair is a little long, so it took a lot of time. All the time and effort I put in this project were worth it, because it ended up looking very nice and very similar to Chace in reality.
